Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Zaajira ("Zaajira", "we", "us") and govern your access to and use of zaajira.com, our APIs, mobile experiences, and any related services (together, the "Platform"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Platform you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract under the laws of your country. By registering as an employer you confirm you have authority to bind the organisation you represent.

2. The service

Zaajira is an AI-powered job board and hiring platform serving candidates and employers across Africa, with primary operations in Kenya and Tanzania. Candidates can browse and apply to jobs free of charge. Employers can post roles, screen applicants, run AI-assisted interviews, manage pipelines, and onboard hires under a subscription or other commercial plan.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at reach@zaajira.com if you suspect any unauthorised use.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Post jobs that are discriminatory, fraudulent, misleading, or that violate any law in your jurisdiction.
  • Charge candidates any fee in connection with a job posted on Zaajira.
  • Scrape, copy, or republish content from the Platform without our written permission.
  • Upload viruses, malware, or content that infringes any third party's rights.
  • Use the Platform to send unsolicited marketing communications.
  • Interfere with, probe, or attempt to bypass the security or rate limits of the Platform.

5. Candidate content

You retain ownership of the CV, answers, recordings, and other content you submit. By submitting an application you grant the employer that posted the role, and Zaajira, a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, store, and display that content for the purpose of evaluating and progressing your application.

6. Employer content and obligations

Employers are responsible for the lawfulness of every job they post and for ensuring their hiring decisions comply with applicable employment, equal- opportunity, and labour laws — including but not limited to the Kenya Employment Act 2007, the Tanzania Employment and Labour Relations Act 2004, and equivalent legislation in other countries where they operate. Employers act as data controllers for applications received via Zaajira (see our Privacy Policy).

7. AI features

Zaajira uses artificial intelligence to parse CVs, transcribe and summarise interviews, and suggest candidate relevance scores. AI outputs are provided "as is" as decision-support tools. A human recruiter is always responsible for the final hiring decision. Zaajira does not guarantee any particular outcome from use of its AI features.

8. Fees and payment

Where the Platform is provided under a paid plan, applicable fees, billing currency (typically USD, KES or TZS), and billing cycle are shown at checkout or in your order form. Fees are exclusive of VAT and other applicable taxes (including 16% VAT in Kenya and 18% VAT in Tanzania) which will be added where required by law. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform without notice if you breach these Terms, if your account is used unlawfully, or if non-payment persists beyond 14 days. You may cancel your account at any time from your account settings; certain fees are non-refundable.

10. Intellectual property

The Platform, including the Zaajira name, logo, software, design, and content we publish, is owned by Zaajira or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Platform for its intended purpose.

11. Third-party services

The Platform integrates with third-party services such as Google, Meta WhatsApp Business, Africa's Talking, Selcom, calendar providers, and AI inference providers. Your use of those services is also governed by their own terms.

12. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. Zaajira does not warrant that any job posting will result in a hire, that any application will result in an interview, or that the Platform will be uninterrupted or error-free.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Zaajira's aggregate liability under these Terms in any 12-month period will not exceed the fees you paid to us in that period, or USD 100 if you are a free user. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill.

14. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Zaajira harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms or your violation of any law or third-party right.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nairobi, Kenya, except that we may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction. If you are based in Tanzania, nothing in this section limits your statutory rights to bring proceedings before the courts of the United Republic of Tanzania.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version. Continued use of the Platform after a change constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
